Snapshot: Procedural Writing

One of my favourite lessons!

I had planed to just make a fruit salad, but it branched into a cross-curricular and eye-opening experience for myself and students!

Made with a Purposeful plan!

• Parents were contacted to ensure allergy concerns are addressed and aid in supplying of materials.

• Each student brought a different fruit and took turns adding their fruit to the salad.

• Together we shared a delicious meal and good conversation.

Became cross-curricular :

• Discussions on food groups, portion sizes, healthy vs. unhealthy foods.

• Treats from different cultures.

• Reciprocal learning through simple conversation.

I was so inspired by this class, I later did a similar activity in a Math class where we graphed the number of fruit from my fruit salad!
