my philosophy

What education means to me may be quite similar to others who want to make a difference in the field of education. But what sets me apart is my passion for motivating others. I love the rewarding challenge of discovering each student’s strengths and passions. Education is the cornerstone of success and I will motivate them to exceed to their greatest potential. As a society, we have a collective responsibility to promote the healthy and positive development of all children.

I want all children to learn and understand the importance of education. Each child has the potential to excel and succeed but not all children have the opportunity, tools or support system needed to open their eyes to the possibility.

Below are the key elements of my educational philosophy.

Building Educational Relationships

I believe that creating a safe space to learn is essential for a learning environment. Creating a safe space that is socially and academically inclusive of all students is essential. I base my classroom management strategies on positive reinforcement. Through this approach, the learning process becomes an element of change towards transformative development and

It is important to have kids feel comfortable enough to discuss topics like bullying, racism, and diversity; to academic strengths and weaknesses.

I believe education is a reciprocal relationship between teacher and student. No longer is a linear approach beneficial in a classroom. Teaching should also be a form of a dialogue between teacher and student instead of a formal speech explaining mathematical, and literary concepts. With a relationship, students will be more willing to open up, ask for help, make mistakes, and feel confident enough to take initiative in different aspects of the classroom and social situations within the classroom environment.

My goal is to educate each individual on the value of authenticity, risk-taking and respectful feedback.  Each of these elements come together as a network to create liberation, freedom, and empowerment for each student.
